about

As a printmaker graduated from Concordia University, Lisa Puopolo was inspired to make things out of the towering heaps and scraps of paper in the studio around her. She founded Stitched + Bound in 2002 and is dedicated to making hand bound books and other paper notions using her very old Singer sewing machine and gorgeous handmade papers.

The cotton rag paper she uses is actually made from off-cuts from the garment industry that are too small to be made into clothing. Re-pulped and pulled into sheets of paper, Lisa tears, cuts, and stitches these pieces together to create her unique design combinations. Paired with stunning Japanese Chiyogami papers, Lisa’s books offer a unique aesthetic alternative to mass produce paper products.
